A Taste of Luxury in Fuerteventura

Although the second largest of the beautiful Canary Islands, Fuerteventura, is often seen as the little sister of the more recognized islands of Tenerife, Lanzarote and Gran Canaria. And whilst it has not seen development on the scale of its siblings, Fuerteventura still has so much to offer to holiday makers. It is well known as a haven for water sports enthusiasts and offers some of the most beautiful beaches in the whole of Europe. This amazing marine life and landscapes have reached the level of UNESCO biosphere status.

The coastline dominates the list of popular activities on the island, with diving and snorkelling high on the list, along with surfing, fishing and wind or kite surfing for the most adventurous. The island is also very popular with cyclists and walkers, with dedicated tracks leading to the most spectacular locations and secluded coves or beaches.

If you prefer a slower and more relaxed summer getaway, then you will not struggle to find a taste of luxury in Fuerteventura, for example the hotels in caleta de fuste could be exactly what you are looking for. Caleta de Fuste is one of the best holiday resorts on the island, centred on a glistening beach, and picturesque harbour area.  There are a range of hotels here but one in particular stands out if you are looking for a real treat this year, the Barceló Fuerteventura Thalasso Spa.

As you can imagine from its name, it is perfect those looking for a little self indulgence and offers many treatments and relaxing areas including Turkish baths or heated pools, as well as a great range of sporting activities and facilities available for the whole family. The resort is ideally situated to make the most of Caleta de Fuste and for a change of scenery you could try the local restaurants where you will be tempted with a wide choice of seafood, and venture to the bars and cafes to meet locals and fellow tourists alike.

The Canary Islands are a beautiful part of the world, and many people who visit Fuerteventura make it a regular holiday destination. Experience the miles of white sandy beaches for yourself and I guarantee you will not be disappointed.
