If you are like most travelers, you probably work hard all year long so that you can afford to take a holiday when you have time off. Vacations rarely come more than once a year – and sometimes not even that often – so you may as well get the most out of your trip by spending every moment of it doing things that are fun and memorable. A scenic beach goes a long way to satisfy your holiday needs, but usually there’s more to it than that; a little variety in your itinerary will go a long way. Fuerteventura attractions are varied and ample, and whether you’re on your trip for relaxation or for sheer adventure, you’re certain to find something that appeals to you in this island paradise.

If you’re traveling with children, or if you happen to be an animal enthusiast, then you can’t go wrong at Oasis de Los Camellos Zoo. Located in the tiny fishing village of La Lajita on the eastern coastline of Fuerteventura, this veritable tropical animal park is full of rare wildlife that is native to the island. Aside from the usual zoo displays, you might also be interested in the parrot shows and camel safaris. The town if La Lajita, in itself, is a quaint spot with beautiful ocean views and small-town charms that most visitors will find endearing.

Another “must” among Fuerteventura attractions is the town of La Oliva, which is steeped in history and well-preserved sites that boast architecture of many different eras. The Governor’s Townhouse has been recently restored and a walking tour will provide you an interesting history lesson in the history of the island. Also in La Oliva is a Parroquiade Nuestra Seiiora de Candelaria, an ancient church that makes for a perfect photo opportunity. Historic and scenic structures litter the town, and you could spend a whole day wandering the streets and partaking in guided tours.
